Saturday, January 26: Watson Studio Gallery, "Menage a Trois" Exhibition Opens. The exhibition will show 60 images by 20 photographic and digital artists from Texas, the USA, Canada and Hungary. A menage a trois is the French term describing a domestic arrangement in which three people share a relationship. The French phrase literally translates as "household of three". In keeping with this theme, artists submitted three images or digital works that share some kind of relationship - be it location, color, theme, subject, etc. Selected threesomes will be displayed together in the show. The exhibition will open on Saturday, Jan. 26th with a public and artists reception from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Visitors will have a chance to meet the artists in attendance (including the visiting photographer from Hungary). All images entered in the juried show will cycle through on the ArtPOD, a flat-screen HDTV in the gallery. The exhibition will run until April 13, 2008. Saturday & Sunday, March 1 & 2: Texas Volkssport Association Walk at Pedernales Falls State Park: Start time is between 9 a.m. and noon; finish by 3 p.m. The route is on the Wolf Mountain Trail, and the Sunday route is on the Trammel Crossing Trail (weather permitting) or a walk to Pedernales Falls. Park fees are $5.00 per day without Texas State Park Pass or Bluebonnet Pass. Walk is free unless IVV credit ($3.00) is desired; donations accepted to help defray cost of event. Saturday, March 29: Watson Studio Gallery Silent Auction to Benefit Service Dogs: Several photographers and digital artists participating in the current exhibition title "Menage a Trois" at Watson Studio Gallery will be auctioning their images during an upcoming Silent Auction. The auction will run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The gallery will be donating 100% of their commission to the Texas Hearing and Service Dogs organization. Art lovers and dog lovers will have a chance to bid on a wonderful variety of fine art images plus help out a great charitable organization here in central Texas. Saturday & Sunday, March 29 - 30: Texas Men's State Chili & BBQ Championship Cook-off: Blanco County Fairgrounds. Come sample the creations of Texas' best chili and barbecue cooks at this family-friendly event, complete with food, arts & crafts and many other vendors. Last year's champion, Steve Nadeau, will be back in Johnson City to defend hi title. The bet of Texas cooks, along with contestants from all over the United States will be in town trying to capture the championship trophies. The Championship raised over $8000 in Johnson CIty for charities last year. Cook-off organizers hope to exceed that amount this year. Ancira Motorhomes, Century 21 Town Creek Realty, H-E-B, the Texas Revel Radio Network, and the Silver K Café are among the fine sponsors that help this event continue. The public is invited to judge or just enjoy the good food, and music. ADMISSION IS FREE.
